Bounty of Bethlehem served 2400 on Christmas Day

By Annamarie Jakubielski – It was another wonderful day at the 36th Annual Community Christmas Dinner by Bounty of Bethlehem. Dinner was served to over twenty four hundred folks.

Serving it up at bounty of Bethlehem.

We delivered almost 700 meals to home bound Henderson County residents as well as civil servants that were working on Christmas Day in greater Hendersonville. Approximately 550 meals were picked up from our take out trailer outside the school.

The remainder of the meals were served from our buffet where volunteer servers doted over the diners in the festively decorated gym-turned-dining room.

A blessing was said over the meal, live music was performed and of course, Santa greeted the youngest guests

. Hundreds of toys, stuffed animals and books were handed out by him to all the children that were present for dinner.

All this is possible because of the hundreds of volunteers that come to share the work for the days leading up and on Christmas Day. One hundred percent of funds, food, and toys, come from our community through our fundraising and outreach efforts. Generous supporters include individuals and business.

Donations can still be made online at www.TheBountyofBethlehem.org or by mail to PO Box 883 Hendersonville, NC 28793 .

Since the early 1980s, Henderson County volunteers and supporters have gathered to create a tradition of providing a free Community Christmas Dinner by Bounty of Bethlehem for anyone and everyone to enjoy, no matter who they are, how they worship, or from where they come. All are welcome to join us as an individual or a family, make new friends or meet some old friends in the middle. No one should be alone on Christmas Day.
