Staff Reports- Hendersonville Community Theatre presents Robert Harling’s stage and screen classic, Steel Magnolias. Full of sass, style and sisterhood, Steel Magnolias will run March 8-17 on the theatre’s Main Stage.
Set in the 1980s, Steel Magnolias is a hilarious and heartwarming play that focuses on the camaraderie of six very different Southern women whose lives intertwine at Truvy’s beauty salon.
At Truvy’s, the motto is: there’s no such thing as natural beauty. Through clouds of hairspray and over the buzz of hair dryers, these Southern spitfires gather each week to chat and support each other through the best of times, and comfort one another through the worst.
Robert Harling was inspired to write Steel Magnolias after his sister, Susan, died from complications from diabetes. His play, written in 10 days, is a testament to love and friendship.
Directed by HCT Executive Producer, Jonathan Forrester. The cast of Steel Magnolias (from left): Lyn Morton (Ousier), Jorja Ursin (Clairee), Jennifer Memolo (M’Lynn), Carrie Kimbrell Kimzey (Shelby), Matilyn Hull (Annelle) and Molly Carlin-Folk (Truvy).
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Groups of 10 or more receive a 10% discount. Parental guidance is suggested for Steel Magnolias due to mature content.
